Piracy: The Future of Media

One of the biggest issues raised when downloading content became extremely available was Piracy. It became a wide issue when large amounts of illegal downloading was taking place and the entertainment industry was losing a lot of money because of it. The largest amount of Piracy taking place mainly targets the Youth because of their interest and time of media. Millions of people from Canada and around the world are downloading free content, making the market suffer a loss over a billion dollars. The Film and Record industries are mostly affected by this act.

The issue of Piracy was only taken seriously for a few years and inorder to get recognized, they would view commercials, messages in actual downloads, and even at the movies before a movie was shown. After trying to capture the attention of the public, there was no real change or responce, in fact, more resources of free downloads were becoming increasingly popular and used. The issue of Piracy was a valid issue but no one seemed to even budge because they were getting content we use to pay for, for free.

What more could we ask for right?

Well, the artists, actors, and creators of this content were suffering. If you think about it, we want their content because we like it so much but we do not want to reward them and give them what they deserve for it. Creating music, movies, and other media is their career in which they should be paid for. Most people do not believe that the entertainment industry is suffering because they will always have way more wealth than we ever will and do not seem to be loosing at all. It actually has made them work harder. They have lost the freedom of gaining millions from store sales and now have to find other forms of engaging their fans.
