One of the biggest targets when marketing for the Entertainment industry is theYouth. They are the ones who have time to use new technologies and products. They are also most likely to have their parents buy the "new thing. " This also affects the entertainment industry because many artists and actors are targetting a much younger audience than they are use to. Because our world has become such a fast pace life, the youth are really the majority of who are buying into new products, marketing techniques, and online development.
The youth is now requesting more control over what they listen to watch and read.The concern is that they now have the ability to create their own content online and distribute them through networks to others. Whether they are making their own products of re creating what has been created and letting others have it for free has become a major concern for the industry. Because this content is available online, it makes it extremely hard for corporations to find a marketing strategy that beats having it for free. (World Economic Forum, 2009)
Some crucial questions are raised about these concerns. Can you think of ways to answer them?
1. What format will the entertainment business come in next?
2. Which content will gain or loose value?
3. What role does marketing and brand now play?
4. What method can be used to improve the industry?

I never looked at youth as being the main target. Its not a coincidence that everyone feels like the world revovlces around them in their teens. I mean talk to your parents even they feel like they were "in" in their days. Media has and always will be targeting youth. Their minds are not as developed to make proper choices and differentiate between the pros and cons.Also if told no their rebelious behvaiour will mostly likely not stop until they get a yes. Youth advertise for the media so much they should be paid.
ReplyDeleteI think the future holds new technology that can promote constant advertising at our brains. The world will no doubt become more and more consumer based with the aid of the internet.
